Weekly Update, 13th September 2024

  1. Sunday 15 September                                                                                                      Services at 9.30 and and 10.30 am (also live-streamed). The passage is 1 Corinthians 1:26-2:5, and the theme,  Who are the beacon lighters? which is the title of chapter 4 of Jill Duff’s book, Lighting the Beacons.

2)   Blythswood Shoe Boxes                                                                                                           The Guild is looking for help covering this year’s boxes. If you can assist please come to the chapel on Tuesday 17 September at 2.00pm. Paper and sticky tape will be provided but please bring scissors.

3)   Guild Lunch – thank you.                                                                                                      Thank you to everyone who contributed to last Sunday’s lunch and who has given generously.  £850 was raised.  A special shout out too to the YF whose energy and enthusiasm was a vital factor.

4)   Harvest Thanksgiving: Sunday 29 September                                                                     At this service you are invited to express your thanks to God for the harvest of good things you enjoy. The congregation will be 1) Collecting non-perishable food for East Lothian Foodbank 2) Collecting money to support Tearfund’s Church and Community Transformation Work.

5)   Macmillan Coffee Morning Sat 28th Sept 10am -12 noon                                              Joan, Katie & Elaine are hosting their 3rd Macmillan Coffee Morning. Please come along and enjoy some delicious home baking, coffee and a chat and at the same time help us to support this very worthwhile cause. All donations of baking will be gratefully received.

6)   Edinburgh City Mission                                                                                                            The donations box for the ECM  Food Bank+ in the St Andrew Street entrance of the church is still in use and any donations will now go to Craigentinny after the closure of Leith.

7)   Prayer Gatherings                                                                                                                          Every Sunday in Prayer Room between 10 and 10.20 am                                              Every Monday in Room 1 between 10 and 11 am.                                                          Every Wednesday on Zoom between for 30 minutes starting at 7 pm.                          Please contact the office for log on details,

8)   Community Connections                                                                                                         This is a local Community Organization who work to reduce isolation by fostering connections between people. Might you be able to help? This poster explains the kind of volunteers they are looking for.
