- Sunday 22 September
Services at 9.30 am and 10.30 am (also live-streamed). The theme is Fanning the Beacons into Flame. The passage is Ephesians 3:14-21 and follows chapter 6 of the book Lighting the Beacons.
2) Harvest Sunday 29 September.
Next Sunday will be harvest Sunday. There are two ways you can express your thanks to God for the good things you have received this year.
– Bring items for East Lothian Foodbank. Elaine, the manager, told me, ‘We often run low on things like tinned meats, jam, rice and long life fruit juice. However any long life store items would be very greatly appreciated. We don’t often get enough toiletries to keep up with demand so things like shower gel, deodorant and shampoo would also be most helpful.’
– Donate to Tearfund’s Church and Community Transformation Program. Envelopes will be available or you can give online at https://www.tearfund.org/campaigns/transforming-communities-appeal-isaac
3) Macmillan Coffee Morning Sat 28thSept 10am -12 noon
Joan, Katie & Elaine are hosting their 3rd Macmillan Coffee Morning. Please come along and enjoy some delicious home baking, coffee and a chat and at the same time help to support this very worthwhile cause. All donations of baking will be gratefully received.
4) Blythswood Shoebox appeal. Covered shoeboxes are now available to collect in both vestibules and fill with small practical items such as toiletries, stationery, warm clothing and sweets, details in leaflet inside each box. A collection box for donations of shoebox fillers is available. Return boxes to the office from Sunday 20 October – Sunday 27 October. The Guild would gratefully receive donations of money to cover the cost of delivery and any extra items needed – see Ann Cubitt.
