Weekly Update, 1st November 2024

  1. Sunday 3 November

Services at 9.30 am and 10.30 am (also live-streamed).  The Bible passage is 2 Corinthians 1:1-11; the theme Stepping into the Fire, which is the title of chapter 11 of Lighting the Beacons.

Christmas Choir

Each Christmas a choir is formed which will sing some carols at the Carol Service on Sunday 22 December at 7 pm. Gill Casson leads it and she has a wonderful gift for helping people discover the music they have in them which means people really enjoy being part of this choir. If you’ve sung in it before, please sing again. If you’ve not given it a try, why not do so this year?

It will meet at 11.50 pm this Sunday, and at the same time each Sunday between now and Christmas.

Messy Church, 4.00- 6.00 pm

If you haven’t grown up coming to Sunday morning church it can seem quite strange.  Messy Church takes the key elements of being church (worship, exploration and fellowship) and expresses them in a different way. Messy Church is for all ages and is particularly enjoyed by families with younger children. Might this connect with some people you know? If they live locally they’ll have seen the Boards. If you get the chance, why not invite them to come? Better still, offer to come with them, which might help them do something they’ve always wanted to do but not plucked up the courage to.

2)   Save the Date: Friday 29 Nov: 3.30 -8.00 pm

An opportunity to pray together in the church building. Jesus said, ‘Without me you can do nothing’ (John 15:6). Come and join others in praying that the light of Jesus might transform lives this Christmas time. Come and pray in your way, for as short or as long as you are able to. Join others in expressing dependence on God in this concrete way.

3)   New Home Group

Donna Kellock is starting a new Home Group. It will meet every second Wednesday, 6.45-8.45 pm, starting on Nov 6.  Sometimes it is easier to join a group as it forms than to join one that already exists. So if you’ve often wondered about being part of a Home Group, might this be for you? To find out more contact Donna. Her details are in the Church Directory.

4)   Blythswood Shoebox Appeal. Thanks to your kind generosity 99 shoeboxes were collected on Tuesday and will be sent to people in Ukraine in time for Christmas.

5)   Helper for Board Games Club

Andrew has started a Board Games Club. It meets on Mondays between 3.30 and 6 pm in the church building. Between 10 and 15 young people are coming.  This is a great news because it is helping us minister to young people and develop relationships with them.

Andrew needs another adult helper to ensure the group can meet every week. Might you be that person? Or do you know someone who could be?

If you (or that person) are free on Monday afternoons and enjoy playing Board games Andrew would love to talk to you about it.

6)   Gather Worship Night. Fri 1 Nov 7 pm.

Hosted by North Berwick Christian Fellowship at the High School. All welcome.

7)   Prayer Gatherings

Every Sunday in Prayer Room between 10 and 10.20 am

Every Monday in Room 1 between 10 and 11 am.

Every Wednesday on Zoom between for 30 minutes starting at 7 pm.

Please contact the office for log on details
