Overseas Mission

As our share in Christ’s concern for the whole world, St Andrew Blackadder has four main areas of overseas commitment.

We are twinned with Martin Memorial Church in Gangtok, Sikkim – part of the Diocese of Eastern Himalaya of the Church of North India. Videos of their church work are available.

We support:

  • Wycliffe Bible Translators, especially the monthly prayer meeting, which has been held in North Berwick for many years.
  • Elaine Hutchison, daughter of church members, based in Kampala, who is financial adviser to the Anglican Church of Uganda.
  • The hospital and relief work being carried out in Kauma, Malawi.

We also have links with:

Liz Trail, working in Uganda

Now working in Kabale in the south of Uganda, Liz worked as a teacher with Mid-Africa Mission, which is now part of the Church Missionary Society. She was supposed to have retired, but the need arose, and she has gone out to lecture at the University. Liz is a member of one of our neighbour churches, St Baldred’s Scottish Episcopal Church, but when she is at home she is a regular visitor to our evening services.

Heather Lennox, working in Jamaica

Heather has been in the West Indies since early 2003, working in the Cornwall area, under the direction of the Presbyterian Church of Ireland.
