Healing Rooms
You may have heard by now that “Healing Rooms” has started in our church premises. Healing Rooms is an international network with branches in many countries, including 30 in Scotland, which seeks to bring the healing powers of the Holy Spirit into the lives of ordinary people. A Healing Room is simply a place where people can come and receive healing prayer for any condition. Healing Rooms are open to everyone, whether they have any church connection or not, and prayer is offered free of charge by small teams of trained volunteers who come from different local churches. In our case the volunteers are from North Berwick Christian Fellowship and from St Andrew Blackadder. We are a group of people who believe in the power of the Holy Spirit to heal and will simply pray for anyone who would like prayer. We do not give medical advice, or offer counselling. All the volunteers have undertaken training and most have attended some sessions at Wellsprings Healing Rooms in Newcraighall, whose directors will act in a supervisory capacity for us. At present we are a small team but would dearly love to have more people join us.
When you come into Healing Rooms you will be welcomed by a receptionist who will give you a form to fill in stating your name and your prayer request. This will include any preference you might have for an all male, all female or mixed prayer team. The prayer team will always consist of at least two people. You will be offered tea or coffee while you wait and then will be shown into a private place for prayer. All that is said during that time is of course in complete confidence and will not be shared with anyone else or discussed in any way. You may come back as often as you wish.
The first session of Healing Rooms will be on Saturday 7 November, from 10.30 until 12.00, in St Andrew Blackadder. The reception area will be in the High Street vestibule and prayer will take place in one of the small meeting rooms opposite the crèche. People are free to come at any time during the hour and a half as there will be no appointment system. We intend to open Healing Rooms on the first and third Saturdays of every month, and will put sandwich boards out in front of the church to show that we are open and to point people in the right direction.
We in the team passionately believe not only that God can heal today but that He really wants to heal His people. We are hearing stories from all around the world testifying to God’s goodness and are looking forward to seeing exciting things happening in our church and in our town. Please pray for us as we step out on this new adventure. Prayer really does change things.
