26th February 2023, Weekly Update

1. Sunday 26 Feb
Communion will be celebrated at the services at 9.30 am and 10.30 am (also live-streamed). The passage is Matthew 5:33-48, the theme, How to make society good.

2. Welcome Evening: 29 Mar 7pm
An opportunity for anyone to find out where St Andrew Blackadder has come from and where it is going, to learn about different ministries and opportunities for involvement. It’s intended particularly for anyone who is new to the congregation and has proven to be a great way to help people become part of the congregation. If you know of anyone like this, could you encourage them to come along? It’s useful, bit not essential, to know who is coming. Julie in the office will be delighted to hear from you.

3. The Guild: The next meeting is on Tuesday 28 February at 2.30 in the Chapel, and everyone is very welcome. I will be speaking on the Guild theme, “Wee Seeds, Big Trees”

4. Family Worker
This week the Kirk Session decided to recruit a Part Time Families Worker as part of our commitment to Growing Young.  This will be a paid position. The person will work the equivalent of 2 days a week (16 hours) and will focus on families with under 8 year olds. Their role will be to support the various groups within the church that work with families of this age, to build relationships with them and to help share the good news of Jesus with them.  More details will be available in due course. Please pass on this information to anyone who might be interested. If anyone wants to find out more, please get in touch with me. Please pray for God’s leading and direction as we go forward with this exciting new initiative.

5. Open Door Thanks to tremendous support for this the church is open most days 9.00 am to 4.00pm. There are vacant 2.00 – 4.00 slots still to fill, one on Mondays, one on Tuesdays and three on Wednesdays, each once every 4 weeks. If you think you might be able to help please contact Julie in the office or Barbara Clark (details in the directory). The actual dates are on the church website.

6. Messy Church: Have enough egg boxes and kitchen roll tubes—thank you.

7. ParentSpace: Helen Nelson, Sally Anderson and Liz Foster are in the process of setting up a new initiative for parents called ParentSpace. They thank God for the volunteers who have come forward and would ask you to pray that: PVGs processed quickly, for wisdom as they plan this new initiative, and for the parents of young children in our community.

8. World Day of Prayer: Friday 3 March: Service at Our Lady Star of Sea at 3 pm.

9. Real Easter Eggs This is the final Sunday for ordering Real Easter Eggs; all orders will be collected and finalised after the 1030am service. Payment and collection is on Sunday 19th March.
