Prayer Diary, March 23

1          Pray for those you know who have recently lost a family member or close friend. and are  finding the loss difficult to cope with.

 2          Pray for the members of the North Berwick Association of Churches as they meet this  evening.

3          Remember those you know who have recently gone to live in a care home or sheltered  housing. Pray that they will settle in well in their new environment.

4          Remember someone you came in contact with recently who was severely disabled. Pray for  them and give thanks for the measure of health which you enjoy.

 5          Pray for David Graham and the members in the Abbey and in Dirleton. Remember all who will be involved with Messy church this afternoon.

6          Pray for  those you know whose holiday plans have been disrupted by the unrest in the area  they were hoping to visit.

7          Pray for the young people who are on a gap year or are hoping to have one after they leave school. Ask for guidance for them as they plan the next stage in their career.

8          Remember all the young people in our fellowship who went off to university or college in  recent months. Pray that they will be link up with an active church or fellowship.

9          Pray for all who will be taking part in the Leading Prayer Worship today.

10        Remember  those who have been affected by the terrible earthquakes in Turkey and Syria and pray for those who are now destitute and without a home and food.

11        Remember those you know who are struggling financially at the moment and pray that we  will seek to use our own money wisely and effectively.

12        In our worship this morning Neil will help us to continue to hear what Jesus teaches us  about not worrying. Pray for all who attend the services today.

13        Remember Andrew and his work with the young people. Pray too for the group of mentors who try to help and encourage the teenagers and young adults.

Pray for personal, local, national and international situations which you recall as you   meditate on the following lines from a well known hymn, written by John Bell.

 14        some have come who need your help

 15        some have come to make amends         

 16        to disentangle peace from pain.

17        make your broken people whole

18        Give thanks for all the help, advice and encouragement which Dr Flynn has given during his  time as a doctor in North Berwick. Pray for him and his family as he begins his retirement.

19        In worship this morning we continue to look at the Sermon on the Mount. Pray for Neil  as he leads and for all who will attend the services.

20        Continue to pray for a peaceful solution and an end to the conflict in Ukraine.      

21        Pray for the members of the Kirk Session as they meet this evening to approve the accounts  for 2022. Give thanks for all the work which Keith does throughout the year.

22        Remember Barbara as she arranges the Open Doors rota. Pray for all who serve on it and  for the contacts they make with visitors to the church building.

23        The second Leading Prayer workshop takes place today. Pray that it will be a helpful time  for all who are taking part.

24      Continue to pray about all the changes which are happening in the Health Centre and the Edington and ask for help and encouragement for all who work there.

25        Give thanks for Annika and Hamish and for the progress made with the Magend Project.

Pray too about the health of Elise and the plans which Daniel is making about his future.

26        Pray for Douglas and the congregation in the churches in the Traprain Parish.

 Remember Neil as he speaks about the final portion of the Sermon on the Mount.

27        Pray  for the new leader of the SNP who is elected today and for the work of all the members of parliament in Holyrood. May all their decisions be wise and for the benefit of all.

28        Pray for those who have had to wait a long time before they can have an urgent operation. Remember especially for those whose operation date has been postponed or cancelled.

29        Give thanks and pray for the SU groups being set up in Prestonpans, Newbattle and Dalkeith.

Remember all the other SU groups which meet in schools in our area.

30        Pray for Fiona as she organises the service in Dirleton Court this afternoon. Remember Harry, Ruth and the others who are involved and pray for all the residents who attend.

31        Pray for Mari and the contacts she seeks to make with a number of the older and less able members of our fellowship.
