Prayer Diary August 2023

1   Look through a copy of the Church Directory and pray for those who have not  managed to attend the services for a long time.

2   Remember Stuart Duncan and the members of his welcome team who are on  duty each Sunday.  Pray that others will offer to help and join one of the teams.

3   Pray for Robert Galbraith and his team who are working on the St Andrew Blackadder Sustainability Initiative.

4  Give thanks for all the time and effort which Julia Lazonby has spent producing the new Church Directory. Pray that it will continue to be a great help to all who use it.

5   Pray for all the leaders and P5 – P7 campers who will be arriving at Scoughall today for the Scripture Union camp.

6    Remember Ann Cubitt as she leads our worship this morning and pray for all the visitors who will be attending the services today.

7   Pray for someone in our fellowship who is concerned by reports of their medical condition and the increasing likelihood that they will need to make changes to many of their normal routines.

8  Pray for those you know who are experiencing family problems which seem unending and unable to be fixed.

9  The Young Carers Art Show is being held in the Chapel until Saturday. Pray for all who help to look after those who rely on the help they receive.

10 Give thanks and pray for someone who, as a result of what they said or did, was a real encouragement to you. Pray that you will also have opportunities to be an encourager.

11   Pray for those who are leading or have lead SU missions in Penicuik, Ormiston, Pencaitland and Dalkeith. Remember Derek Harley as he follows up contacts made over the summer period,

 12   Many members in our fellowship are finding it hard going at the moment. Ask God for wisdom to know if, when and how you can help and encourage them.

13  Pray for all who will be involved in Hunger Lunch today – those who prepare soup and other food, those who serve, those who attend and those who will benefit from the donations given.

14  Remember the Ralston family and their life and work in Sweden. Pray for the distribution of the new books which they have helped to produce for people whose language they feel they should not mention.

15  Give thanks and pray for the members of our fellowship who regularly visit some of the older or housebound members of our congregation, giving them help and encouragement.

16  Pray that you will be able to put a theological principal into practice in a specific way today.

17   Pray for all the teachers who will be starting the new school term today and for the pupils who will be attending for the first time.

18  Give thanks that Andrew has very successfully completed his Theology and Youth Work degree. Pray for all the young people who tonight will attend the first Youth Night of the new season.

19  Pray for the members of the Community Council and all the others who deal with various aspects of life in North Berwick. 

20  Remember Douglas Hamilton and his family as he ministers in East Linton, Stenton and Athelstaneford.

21  The first Warhammer Club of the season starts this week. Pray that the leaders and all who take part have an enjoyable and worthwhile time.

22  Pray for friends and relatives which you have in other parts of the world, particularly for those who are living and working in politically sensitive areas.

23  Pray for all who will lead or attend the Sustaining North Berwick event which is planned to take place in our church on Saturday morning.

Pray for the following  people, the  positions which they hold and the country  in which they serve,

 24  Joe Biden

25   Humza Yousaf

26   Vladimir Putin

27   Rishi Sunak

28   Volodymyr Zelensky

29   Look again at the Church Directory and pray for all those you do not really know. Pray for guidance about how, when and if you should get in touch with them.

30   Pray about an item in the news today which is causing you considerable concern or unhappiness.

31    Pray for Neil as he prepares for the Autumn and Winter months of ministry in the life of the church.
