1st September 2023, Weekly Update

  1. Sunday 3 September

Services in the church at 9.30 and and 10.30 am (also live-streamed).  The theme is Tongues that Speak of Jesus;  the passage Acts 2:1-13. This is the passage discussed in chapter 4 of Sleeping Giant.  Its title is Holy Spirit, He’s not an Optional Extra.

Messy Church runs from 4pm to 6pm.  In looking at Sleeping Giant I suggested last Sunday that God is prompting his people to step out beyond what is comfortable. God wants you and me to be willing to talk about faith.  Are you one of those people who say to themselves, ‘I want to do this. I just don’t know where to start’?

Messy Church might be a really easy way to do this. Messy Church is for all ages and appeals particularly to families with primary aged children. Does that describe some of your neighbours or friends?  If so, if you get the chance you could say, ‘Have you seen the boards advertising Messy Church? It’s on at my church. I’ve heard it’s a different way of being church. It involves crafts, worship and food. Children come and love it. I’ve never been and am curious to find out more. If you’re free and would like to come, we could go together.’

If that sounds possible, why not take the next step. Why not ask Jesus to give you the opportunity to extend this invitation in a very natural way.
