Goals of The Sustainability Initiative

St Andrew Blackadder is called to participate in God’s work of safeguarding the integrity of creation and his desire to sustain and renew the life of the earth.

Six practical goals have been set that will help the congregation do this.

  1. To pray for the safeguarding, sustaining and renewing of the planet.
  2. To continue adapting the St Andrew Blackadder Church building so that its carbon footprint continues to decrease.
  3. To identify and implement practices that will enable St Andrew Blackadder Church collectively to live more sustainably.
  4. To inform members of the St Andrew Blackadder community of practical steps they can take so that they themselves live more sustainably and to encourage them to take them.
  5. To collaborate with and support other groups and people in the local community who have similar goals.
  6. To support initiatives designed to help some of the world’s poorest people adapt to, and mitigate the effects of climate change, particularly those taken by Christian agencies and local churches.
