- Sunday 11 November
Worship will be in the church building at the usual times of 9.30 am and 10.30 am with the 10.30 am service being live-streamed on YouTube. The theme will be Remembrance Sunday and the passage, Daniel 4.
There will be a service at the War Memorial. It is scheduled for 12 noon. In practice it will begin when the parade arrives from Abbey Church.
2) Guild Sunday
A huge thank you to the Guild who served more than 100 people with soup and puddings last Sunday. It is the first soup lunch there has been since Covid. The blessings and benefits of being able to share a simple meal together were very clear. Monthly hunger lunches will restart in the New Year.
Your donations for the Guild projects after the lunch totalled £671. Thank you for your generosity.
3) Thank you to Isabel Aitken
Isabel has been one of our music coordinators for the last 14 years. The way she has used her gifts and faith has enabled many different people to offer their musical talents on Sunday mornings. This has enriched the worship of the congregation. She has worked faithfully and quietly organising rotas and sheet music. She has decided the time has come to pass on the baton, and we express our gratitude to her.
4) Profession of Faith
There will be an opportunity on Sunday December 11 for people to publicly profess their faith in Jesus Christ. If you would like to join the three people who have already decided to do so, please speak to Neil as soon as possible.
5) Parking in North Berwick
East Lothian Council is proposing to introduce paid parking in the centre of North Berwick which have been circulated for consultation. I have already heard different views on this matter. I would encourage everyone to communicate their views to the Council.
The one aspect I do want to comment on is the proposal to have paid parking in the area around the church every day of the week between 8.30 am – 6 pm. Sunday mornings tend to be much quieter so I think this is unnecessary at that time and will have a disproportionate impact on people who attend church. It is interesting to note that in Edinburgh City Centre, parking is free on Sunday mornings. Charges only come in at 12.30 pm.
If you think parking should be free on Sunday mornings in North Berwick, I encourage you to express your views to the Council.
6) Prayer Gathering
Each Wednesday on Zoom between for 30 minutes starting at 7 pm.
For log in details please contact the office.
