Hunger Lunch
A simple lunch of soup, bread and cheese will be held in the church hall beginning at noon. All donations will go to Christian Aid.
2) Christian Aid Events this week include
Fri 17: Musical Soiree, St Baldreds Church, 7 pm.
Sat 18 Coffee Morning, St Andrew Blackadder, 10-12 noon. Entry by donation.
3) We’re Hiring
The congregation is looking to fill two paid, part time positions which could, also, both be done by the same person.
Church Officer: You will open the building at about 9 am Monday to Friday, and take care of practical details for the day. In total you will work 6 hours a week. You will be paid £12 an hour (the Real Living Wage).
Maintenance Coordinator: You will be responsible for the maintenance of the church building. You will do some small jobs yourself and involve others in the congregation. You will contact contractors and work with them to address larger issues. There will be no set hours or days and the workload will vary. You will be able to shape the work to suit you and your other activities. The average will be 6 hours a week. For example, you might work 12 hours for two weeks and then have two weeks off. Your salary will reflect your experience.
If you are interested in either or both positions please contact Julie for more information or to arrange a chat. Do you know someone who might be interested? Please pass on the information to them.
If you have some hours you could offer in the short term to help Julie with the extra workload she is carrying, please contact her.
4) The Ministry of Coffee (and tea!)
The welcome and hospitality offered to new people and visitors is helped so much by having coffee/tea available after church services. That’s why those who serve it have a vital ministry. Julie has gaps on the rota for the next few months. Could you help by volunteering? If you already serve in this way, could you take on an additional Sunday?
5) East Lothian Week of Prayer 13-19 May
Douglas Hamilton (minister at Traprain) got in touch to tell me about a week of prayer that some people have organised. You can find further details at East Lothian Prayer Week 13 – 19 May (padlet.com)
6) Regular Prayer Gatherings
Every Sunday in Prayer Room between 10 and 10.20 am
Every Monday in Room 1 between 10 and 11 am.
Every Wednesday on Zoom between for 30 minutes starting at 7 pm.
