Weekly Update, 31 May 2024

  1. Sunday 2 June

Services at 9.30 am and 10.30 am (also live-streamed).  Andrew Duncan will be preaching. The bible passage is John 1:35-51 and Andrew will talk about various aspects of his ministry with young people, under the title of The Wedding Cake.

2)   Gift Day 23 June

Gift Day is in three weeks’ time. The target is £40,000 and the intention is that half (£20,000) will be given away and the other half (£20,000) used to help fund work on the church hall.

The floor in the church hall needs replaced, and heating the hall produces about one ton of CO2 every month during winter. In order to eliminate this CO2 emission, under floor heating, a heat pump and solar panels will be fitted at the same time as the floor is replaced. It will cost about £130,000. Gift Day contributing £20,000 will allow this to go forward.

I’ll share details of the other projects in coming weeks. They’re also detailed in a leaflet that’s circulated with Kaleidoscope and can be picked up around the church building. In the meantime, please think and pray about what you might contribute.

3)   Church Officer

I’m delighted to say that Hilde ten Hacken has been appointed Church Officer and is able to start working immediately.  She will cover most of the duties of the Maintenance Coordinator as well.  Please pray for her as she takes up this important ministry role that will allow St Andrew Blackadder to keep demonstrating the reality of Christ’s welcome.

4)   Church Weekend Away 14-16 June.

Please sign up ASAP if you haven’t done so already. You can do so in person this Sunday.

On Sunday 16 June the 9.30 service will be in the church building and the 10.30 service will be at Scoughall, as will all children’s and youth activities. There will be no 10.30 service or activities in the church building that day.

5)   Summer Holiday Club 22-26 July

Are you free this week?  Holiday Club is a wonderful opportunity to share the good news of Jesus with children and young people. Whether or not it’s something you’ve done before, it would be great to have you on the team. If you’d like to know more please speak to Lesli Lawrie, or reply to this email and ask Julie to pass your name onto Lesli.  Our commitment to safeguarding means that it takes a few weeks to process your offer to help. So the sooner you can speak to Lesli, the better.
