Weekly Update, 29th August 2025

  1. Sunday 31 August

Communion will be celebrated at both services: 9.30 am 10.30 am (also live-streamed).  If you are worshipping online, prepare your ‘bread’ and ‘wine’ beforehand so you can participate too.

2)    Guests as well as hosts

The theme of Sunday’s services will be Hosts.  This is the second part of the introduction to the Big Idea of Guests as Well as Hosts.   The passage is Luke 22:7-23.

Prayer lies at the heart of this work.  If you haven’t picked up a prayer card from the church you might want to print off the one below to prompt you to pray daily about this. Prayer Card_Guests as well as Hosts

3)    Ministries Fair

The various ministries of the congregation are one of the key ways we can be gracious and generous hosts. Each of these ministries depends on the prayer and participation of people like you. I expect every person who is part of St Andrew Blackadder to be involved, in some way (contributing to and/or supporting) at least one of these ministries. The Ministries Fair will help you discern where God is calling you to participate. It will be held in the Sanctuary directly after the 10.30 service.

4)   The Bible Course

Next Sunday, 7 September, sees the launch of The Bible Course, the congregation’s book for the autumn. I am really excited about this book for two reasons. It provides a very accessible and practical way into a rhythm of regular Bible reading. And it is a very different kind of book from previous years ones. It is not at all wordy – ideal for those who have struggled to get through previous books.

From next Sunday you will be able to get your copy of The Bible Course.  Normally priced at £10, because we have bought in bulk we are able to sell them at £8.

There are some great resources – print and video – to support The Bible Course.  Many of the Home Groups will be using them. If you are not part of a Home Group, why not get together with a few others this autumn so you can chat and discover more about the Bible using The Bible Course?

5)    Messy Church

Returns next Sunday, 7 September 4- 6 pm.  Messy Church is another way of being church, ideal for those who like interaction and prefer moving around to sitting, which is why to resonates particularly with children and families.  Is there someone you know who might like to try it?  Why not invite them. Better still, offer to come with them to it.

6)    Prayer Gatherings

Every Sunday in Prayer Room between 10 and 10.20 am

Every Monday in Room 1 between 10 and 11 am.

Every Wednesday on Zoom between for 30 minutes starting at 7 pm.
