Weekly Update, 3rd October 2025

1. Sunday 5th October, Services at 9.30 and 10.30 am (also live-streamed). The passage is Matthew Exodus 1:6-22 and the theme, the story of Freedom. Margot Robertson will be leading us in worship.

2. Martin Memorial Church In AD 2000 Lothian Presbytery twinned with the East Himalaya Diocese of the Church of North India, and as part of that wider twinning, in 2004, our StAB church twinned with Martin Memorial church in Gangtok.
Groups from our church visited in 2008 and again in 2018, and in 2014 a group from MMC visited us for a week.
This year, being the 25th anniversary of the twining, the new Borders and Lothian Presbytery have invited representatives of the Diocese to visit, one of whom has been a member of MMC since childhood, and is now pastor of a group of churches all of which developed through the work of MMC over the years. His name is the Rev Ujwal Rai and he comes to our service on Sunday 5th Oct and will give news and greetings from MMC, our twinned church.

3. McMillan Coffee Morning. Thank you to all who supported last Saturdays coffee morning, the total raised was £1188.40.

4. The Guild, Lothians Guilds Together are having a mini gathering at St Michael’s Parish Church, 1 Slateford Road, Edinburgh EH11 2NX on Saturday 11th October from 11 am to 3 pm. Coffee will be available from 10.30 and lunch will be provided by the church’s Guild members. The leadership team of the national Guild will be there together with speakers from all 4 Guild Projects. Do feel free to join us on what should be a very interesting day.

Guild Sunday is on the 12th October when both services will feature Guild members in varying roles. It is an opportunity to learn more about the Guild and to get to know some of our members.

5. Blytheswood Shoeboxes. You are invited to come to the chapel on Tuesday 7 October from 2.00pm to 4.00pm to help pack shoeboxes with the donations of shoebox fillers.

It is not too late to participate in this important annual project – There are still shoeboxes available to collect from both front and back doors of the church waiting to be filled with the small gifts suggested on the leaflet inside the box. Boxes can be returned to the church mid-October ready for collection. Thank you!

6. Prayer Gatherings
Every Sunday in Prayer Room between 10 and 10.20 am
Every Monday in Room 1 between 10 and 11 am.
Every Wednesday on Zoom between for 30 minutes starting at 7 pm.
