- Sunday 23 February
Communion will be celebrated at both the 9.30 am and 10.30 am services. If you are worshipping online at the 10.30 service, prepare your own bread and wine beforehand so you can share in communion. The passage is Mark 5:1-20 and the theme, Who can save a wretch like me?
The Hall Story
Church and community groups have been appreciating being back in the Church hall. Come and hear about the work which was done and is now concealed at 11.50 am in the church hall.
2) Kirk Session Conference
The Kirk Session had a very fruitful meeting on Tuesday preparing for the conference on March 1. In the photo below you can see lots of insights being generated and shared on post-it notes. Thank you for your prayers. Please keep praying for insight and clarity for the conference on March 1.
3) Change of Session Clerk
Niki McKenzie became Session Clerk in September 2012. Since that time she has served faithfully and wisely. Her contribution has been immense. Her love for Jesus, her energy and wisdom, her unflappability and rock-solid reliability has been such a blessing to the Kirk Session and congregation. And to me.
Last autumn Niki told the Kirk Session she believed it was time to pass the baton on. Since then the Kirk Session has been considering the best way forward. In the last decade the role of Session Clerk has become more complex and demanding, which the Kirk Session recognized a few years back when they appointed Tommy Nelson as Depute Session Clerk.
This week the Kirk Session agreed to appoint a Session Clerk Team of three people.
– Sheila Haynes will be responsible for administration and will be team leader.
– Tommy Nelson will be responsible for supporting the various ministries of the congregation.
– Rodger Glenfield will be responsible for Sunday ministry – the welcome and the many different things which need to happen for Sunday worship to run smoothly.
The new team will take over towards the end of March when they will be introduced to the congregation and we say a proper thank you to Niki. Till then, please pray for them.
4) Real Easter Eggs
What makes a Real Easter Egg genuine? The fact that it is BOTH a chocolate egg AND it tells what happened at Easter. This year, you can order milk chocolate eggs for yourself and/or for the East Lothian Foodbank. Leaflets giving details of order and pick up dates, and payment process are available in the Church building.
