Weekly Update, 6th June 2025

1. Church Weekend Away

2. Sunday 8 June
There will be one service in the church building at 9.30 am. This service will be streamed. I will preach on James 3:1-12 and the theme will be Taming the Tongue. The 10.30 am service along with Junior Church and YF, will take place at Scoughall. Even if you are not coming to any other part of the weekend, come and join in this act of worship.

3. Jon Swann
Jon died this week. Zipping around in his motorized chair, Jon was a character. Having led a colourful life, he was baptized and joined St Andrew Blackadder last June showing it’s never too late to turn your life around.

4. Gift Day – Bible Translation. 29/6/25
Hamish and Annika Ralston have worked with Wycliffe Bible Translators for decades. From their home in Sweden they have supported a translation of the Bible into a language spoken by more than 15 million people. These people are spread over a number of countries, each of whom suppress their language and culture. The result is there is almost no literature in their language. Imagine their joy when they hear God speaking to them in their mother tongue! As the translation project nears completion we will give £5,000 from this year’s Gift Day to help with the completion of the translation and creating material to help people engage with this Bible for the first time.

5. Ministry Reports
Each June the Kirk Session invites the various ministries of the congregation to produce a brief report. On Tuesday the Kirk Session received these reports with joy and thanksgiving. They paint a picture of God at work and of faithful service. They are a reminder that week by week hundreds of people serve quietly within St Andrew Blackadder without looking for, or expecting recognition. Thank you to every one of you.

6. Prayer Gatherings
Every Sunday in Prayer Room between 10 and 10.20 am
Every Monday in Room 1 between 10 and 11 am.
Every Wednesday on Zoom between for 30 minutes starting at 7 pm.
