Weekly Update 8 March 2024

  1. Sunday 10 March

Services are at 9.30 am and 10.30 am (also live-streamed). I will be leading the services and Ann Cubitt will be preaching.  The passage is Luke 18:31-43 (also Isaiah 61:1-3) and the theme There are none so blind as those who will not see.

2)   Sharing the Good News of Easter

In a world where many feel hopeless and helpless the resurrection of Jesus bursts in bringing hope and light. Please could you help share this wonderful news by delivering Easter Cards to homes in the parish. Collect an envelope for a particular street after the services on Sunday beside coffee. Hugh and Ian will be there and they’d also love talk to you about taking cards for your street if you live outside the parish.

3)   Prayer Day: Saturday 16 Mar 9.30 am -3 pm

Join with others in praying for the community, the nation and the world. Since there’s no one way to pray, there will be opportunities to pray in many different ways during the day. Come when you come. Stay as long as you want.

The day will include

– A prayer walk starting at Law Primary at 9.30 am with people making their way to the church. You can walk and pray on your own, in pairs, or in a group.

– A prayer wander within the church building (suitable for the less mobile) beginning at 9.30 am.

– Group prayer in the Prayer Room (off the chapel) at 11 am and 2 pm

– Prayer for healing in room 4 between 10 am and noon, 1 – 3 pm

– Other prayer stations.

4)   Real Easter Eggs – collection

Next Sunday , 17th March is ‘Pay & Collect’ for your Real Easter Eggs. Sheila & Robert will be at the St Andrews St. entrance ready to accept cash, card or cheques when you collect the Real Easter Eggs you ordered.

5)   Real Easter Eggs – Foodbank

138 Easter Eggs have been delivered to the Foodbank  in Tranent thanks to your generosity. In expressing her appreciation, Elaine, the Foodbank Manager said, Demand for our service has gone up by 20% since last year and the eggs will be greatly appreciated by the families that we support who are struggling not only with putting food on the table but also with the cost of heating their homes. Our stats show us that many we support are also dealing with ongoing healthy conditions or struggling to manage priority debt.

6)   Wednesday Morning 13 March

The church office and the church building will be closed in the morning.

7)   Regular Prayer Gatherings

Every Sunday in Prayer Room between 10 and 10.20 am

Every Monday in Room 1 between 10 and 11 am.

Every Wednesday on Zoom between for 30 minutes starting at 7 pm.
