Weekly Update, 31st October 2025

1. Sunday 2 November
Services at 9.30 and 10.30 am (also live-streamed). The passage is Luke 22:54-62 and Acts 2:1-15, 29-41 and the theme Before and After. The service will look at Session 7 of the Bible Course, Acts: the story of Mission.

Christmas Choir
The Carol Service this year will be on Sunday 21 December at 7.00 pm. At it the Christmas Choir will sing. Rehearsals are on Sundays at 11.50 am. All are welcome to come and give it a try. Gill Casson has a wonderful ability to bring more music out of people than they knew they had.

2. Church Directories
Copies of the new edition of the Church Directory can be picked up. On Sunday they will be beside coffee.
– This is a great tool that helps us get to know each other better. That means it has personal information in it. Please be careful how you store it. If you have an older Church Directory please shred it before you throw it out.
– If you would like to help cover the cost of printing, you can put £2 in the tub beside the directories.
– A big thank you to Julie Lazonby for all the detailed work involved in putting this together.

3. Sunday 9 November
Remembrance
St Andrew Blackadder has the privilege of hosting North Berwick’s Remembrance Sunday service this year. In order to do this
– usual services are ’swapped’ round. That is, creche, Junior Church and YF will meet as part of the 9.30 service.
– the second service will be at 10.45 am when the town will be hosted.

An Act of Remembrance will follow at the War Memorial at approximately 12 noon.

4. Welcome to Kerry Reilly
Kerry is exploring a call to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament. St Andrew Blackadder Church has been asked to provide the context for her to do this. Over the winter and spring Kerry will participate in different parts of the congregation’s life. Please pray for her as she discerns what ministry God is calling her to at this particular point in her life.

5. Blythswood Shoeboxes
102 filled shoeboxes were collected this week. Thank you to everyone.

6. Cunningham House – Each year at this time we collect men’s socks, underpants, hats, gloves and toiletries for the Church of Scotland’s hostel for the homeless at Cunningham House in the Cowgate. These are much appreciated by the residents and so once again we’re launching this appeal. Boxes are placed in the front and rear vestibules and you are invited to use these for your donations. A big thank you from all at Cunningham House.

7. Prayer Gatherings
Every Sunday in Prayer Room between 10 and 10.20 am
Every Monday in Room 1 between 10 and 11 am.
